The Knicks make an agreement to make Chris Jent their associated head coach.

The news was first reported by Stefan Bondy van de Post.

There should be an atmosphere of fame for Jent, 55, who grew up in New Jersey and even played for the Knicks, at his assumption of the top assistant lane. The move also marks a reunion with new hired head coach Mike Brown, Jent worked under Brown from 2006-10 in Cleveland. Jent then remained on the next season after the Brown’s departure.

Now Jent will work under him again, making the Charlotte Hornets the actual attacking coordinator of New York.

The Knicks chased Pacers assistant Mike Weinar for that place, according to Sny, before he chose to stay with the NBA finalists under head coach Rick Carlisle. That was after the Knicks were not able to land assistants, such as the Pablo Prigioni of the Timberwolves, the Jay Triano of the Mavericks or the Pelicans’ James Brego.

It was a clear sign that Brown appreciated fame and relationships, Triano who had worked under him the previous three seasons in Sacramento. But after Weinar had taken his name out of the running, Brown finally landed his husband.

Jent graduated from the Sparta High School in New Jersey and played shortly before the Knicks in 1996-97. He won a championship ring with the rockets in 1994 and has the strange distinction that he has registered more competitions in the late season (11) than the regular season (six).

But it is on the sidelines where Jent made the most impact, as an assistant coach for 18 NBA seasons with the cavs, Hornets, 76ers, Magic, Kings, Hawks and Lakers. He was even the interim head coach for Orlando in 2004-05 and went 5-13.

Now, after Brown Brendan O’Connor had been told his best defensive mind, Jent will handle the other end of the court.

It will be Jent’s task to get a coupling score guardian Jalen Brunson and All-Star Big Man Karl-Anthony Towns to maximize their effectiveness together, after asking about their fit last season. Jent controlled that a huge key will be to the Knicks that break through and reach an NBA final.

In addition to O’Connor, Jent will work out a Knick -Staff with assistants Jordan Brink, Rick Brunson, Mark Bryant, Maurice Cheeks and Darren Erman, all holdovers of the Tom Thibodeau regime.
