Klopp rejected Man United and Chelsea after Liverpool’s departure

Jurgen Klopp’s agent has revealed that the former Liverpool manager has rejected approaches from Man United and Chelsea following his departure from Anfield.

Klopp works as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer and recently said he currently doesn’t want to coach anymore but “can’t say never.”

With the German still a highly sought-after manager despite being out of action for more than 18 months, his agent revealed Transfer market how some Liverpool rivals approached Klopp after his departure from Anfield.

Agent Marc Kosicke said: “Before joining Red Bull, Jurgen could have coached the US or England. Probably Germany too, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn’t already been there.

“Even Chelsea and Manchester United have made inquiries, even though Jurgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England. These inquiries have not stopped.”

Asked whether Klopp would consider a return as coach, Kosicke explained: “At the moment I don’t see that happening because he is very happy with his new role and in this environment.

“He has also found a kindred spirit in Mario Gomez (technical director at Red Bull).

“Mario used to hate Jurgen because he had stolen two national titles and a DFB Cup from him. And Jurgen, in turn, would have liked to have Mario in his team. The two now make a great combination. Mario thinks that Jurgen often says things that he thinks himself.”

“Maybe one day he will say he has to smell the dressing room again, but at the moment, as I said, he is very happy in his role.”

Jürgen Klopp and the job in Germany

Klopp is actually returning to management very soon, for Liverpool Legends! It will be his first visit to Anfield since watching the Reds win the Premier League title last May.

However, the closest professional role he is associated with is that of Germany manager, a position currently held by Julian Nagelsmann.

“Jurgen feels very connected to this country,” says Kosicke.

“That question doesn’t even arise right now. I don’t think he feels like he has to do it at least once. Rather, he feels a sense of obligation, that he can’t always say no to the job.”

Although Klopp and his team have always been quick to emphasize that he is not really looking for a new job in management, there has always been a feeling that they are leaving the door open if he later changes his mind.

A return for Liverpool is highly unlikely, but a job as coach of Die Mannschaft could be a slightly less intense affair as you are not in the spotlight as much during the club season as you are at Liverpool!
