Kia remembers 40,000 Sorento SUVs after the wiring of HVAC blow engine fires burned.

-A Kia Sorento-back procedure has been announced for nearly 40,000 SUVs because the Sorentos 2021-2023 could follow.

The fire risk exists because the Sorento heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) Blawer engine wiring can be harness.

According to Kia:

“Due to a presumably problem with the quality of the supplier of the cable tree supplier, the connection between the blue engine resistance and connector can overheat when using the HVAC system on fan speed 3 while the inflammation is switched on. In rare cases, this state can lead to a fire.”

Kia discovered a problem in October 2024 when a Sorento owner from 2023 complained about a hot rubber scent followed by a fire. The fire was traced into the “Instrument panel on the passenger side, the glove cupboard and top and left of the HVAC ventilatormotor.”

Kia bought the Sorento back but could not determine what the fire caused, but X -rays indicated a damaged resistance of the fan and the cable harness.

Kia is aware of 25 incidents of localized melts of the connectors, one localized fire and one Sorento SUV fire.

Kia Sorento drivers and residents must be aware of burning and melting scents, smoke from ventilation openings and if the HVAC ventilatormotor fails.

Kia Sorento Blower Motor Recall Letters are expected to be emailed on November 24, 2025, but dealers are not ready to repair the vehicles until the second Sorento return letters have been sent. Second notifications will be sent on December 31.

Kia dealers replace the cable use of wiring and resistors of the blazer.

With questions or comments, Kia Sorento owners have to call 800-333-4542 and ask about the reception of leaf-motor wiring SC351.
