Khabib Nurmagomedov runs a tight ship. Nurmagomedov (29-0) recently attended the World Sports Summit in Dubai. Speaking of football, Nurmagomedov condemned players who just casually let the ball go. The former UFC lightweight champion, who is a big fan of football, doesn’t like his teammates laughing and smiling when they lose. While “The Eagle” understands losing, he wants athletes to give it their all.
No laughing matter
“Nowadays you can see guys losing the ball, and they just stand there,” he said. “Come on, brother, you can’t do this. If you’re on my team and we’re losing and he’s laughing, he’s got a big problem. You have to perform, anyone can lose, but you have to show your best, what you’ve got. You can’t just come on my team, just laughing and smiling while we’re losing.”Nurmagomedov retired as UFC lightweight champion in 2020 with an unblemished record. The UFC Hall of Famer has since dedicated himself to helping his teammates and cousins. Nurmagomedov is a feared presence in the gym as his sessions leave everyone completely exhausted.
