K-Wings Sign Venuto, Borgiel | Pro hockey news

Kalamazoo, Mi-de Kalamazoo-Vleugels, Proud Echl branch of the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League, announced on Monday that attacker Antonio Venuto signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC) and goalkeeper Zachaby Borghary has signed a player tryout.

Venuto, 25, is a 6-foot-3, 201-pound, Whitmore Lake, Mi-resident who returns to Kalamazoo to end his Rookie campaign. The left shot attacker recorded two assists after he arrived at the K-Wings last season for six games from Merrimack College.

“Happy to be back in Kalamazoo for my first full pro season,” said Venuto. “I can’t wait to get things rolling and playing for all K-Wings fans again.”

The resident of Michigan played four years for the Ferris State University (2020-2024), registered 23 goals and 32 assists in 120 games, as a result of which the team led in points (26) and goals (12) for the 2023-2024 season. The attacker who was subsequently transferred to Merrimack was appointed team captain and set eight goals with six assists in 35 games played (2024-25).

Borgiel, 25, is a 6-foot-2, 203 pound, Fort Gratiot, MI-resident who played four seasons for Merrimack College (2020-24), which appears in 71 games (32-30-5) and a .896 save percentage (SV%) with a 2.87 goal average (gaa).

The net then went to Providence College in 2024-25 and played in 12 games with a 7-3-1 record, a .910 SV%and a 2.54 GAA. Borgiel was appointed twice last season as Hockey East Goaldder of the Week (October 21 and November 4).

The K-Wings will continue to announce weekly signing sessions, prior to their home opener on October 18 against the Fort Wayne Komets in Wings Event Center.
