The authorities of South Carolina are investigating a possible arson attack on the house of a constitutional judge on Saturday, which burns the mansion on the water of a million dollars on the ground, according to authorities and local reports.

While authorities did not immediately release the names of the homeowners, the Mail and courier she identified as a circuit court Judge Diane Schafer Goodstein, 69, and her husband, Arnold Goodstein, 81, a former member of both houses of the state legislator.

He once served as a commissioner of the South Carolina Department of Transportation and before that was injured in the TET offensive in the war in Vietnam. He received twice a bronze star for heroism in action, according to his bio of the state legislator.

Firefighters from St. Paul Fire District helped the fire brigade of Edisto Beach and extinguish the fire on Edisto Island, a community on the water about an hour’s drive southwest of Charleston.

“This area is located on a barrier island with considerable challenges such as limited water supply and sleek areas,” said St. Paul’s officials in a Facebook message. As a result, First Responders used kayaks to save the occupants from their backyard while the house went up in flames.

Arnold Goodstein suffered injuries after jumping out of a window opposite the back garden to escape the flames, the post and courier reported. The judge ran with their dogs at that time.

All reportedly, three people were injured. The couple has two adult children.

Authorities have released a photo with the towering house on the water that is overshadowed by flames and clouds of black smoke.

A spokesperson for the Division of the state -and -European enforcement, who is said to investigate the arson as a possible cause for the fire, did not immediately respond to e -mail questions.
