The Minnesota Timberwolves signed a training camp deal earlier in August in August. The Wolves currently have two open grid spots, and it probably feels that Bones Hyland will earn one. As a result, Juzang will probably compete for the last schedule of the wolves in the training camp. His knockdown shot, however, makes him earn a schedule.
In particular, Juzang shot 38.4 percent from outside the arc at 4.7 attempts in the past two seasons with the Utah Jazz. Last season, Juzang had an average of 19.8 minutes, 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists at 42.9/37.6/84.9 shooting splits. In the past two seasons, Juzang has proven a Rotation Quality player. Even if the 6-foot-7 wing makes the grid of the wolves, it will probably not crack their charged rotation. Anyway, Juzang can be familiar with minutes if necessary.
Juzang’s shooting gives him a clear role
Shooting is on a premium in the NBA. The wolves are in fifth place in 3-point last season, but adding more shooting is never a bad thing, especially spot-up shooting, namely Juzang’s Forte.
Having a spot-up shooter in Bench line-ups next to Rob Dillingham, Terrence Shannon Jr., Naz Reid and Donte Divincenzo would be very favorable. Moreover, if Juzang ever had to play with the starters, these skills would make him an ideal fit alongside Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle. Playing the impressive on-ball weakness of some of the top players of the Wolves could bring the game from Juzang to a different level.
Given his mix of photography and size, it is easy to see how Juzang can then fit in multiple line -ups. Juzang is currently essentially a shooting specialist. However, that archetype will always be valuable. Moreover, he has shown some on-ball pork chops, including the possibility of attacking close-outs, a solid ball treatment and a number of incidental self-creation.
Juzang dating from his UCLA days, was a number 1 option in a Final Four team, where he was a productive scorer on three levels. Juzang in particular was teammates with Jaylen Clark at UCLA. Although the 24-year-old will always be an off-ball man in the NBA, the possibility to do more on the ball will always be there.
Signing Hyland is logical because the wolves can use a different traditional point watch. However, it could be said that the path from Juzang to minutes is clearer, given how his shooting enables him to match just about every line -up and how clear his role would be.
In the end, Juzang’s shooting is too valuable to overlook when the wolves assess their selection. If Juzang does not make the main roster, it is worth mentioning that he is still eligible, so that the wolves can switch their two -way spots again to sign it. Nevertheless, Juzang has one of the most important NBA skills, and that should give him a kind of selection.
