Jesse Lingard eyes sensational return to Premier League – Man United news and transfer news | The People’s Person

Manchester United have produced quite a few famous academy graduates over the years.

While quite a few have achieved great success, some have taken an unusual path in their careers after their United journey came to an end.

Jesse Lingard is one of those times. After leaving the Red Devils, the Carrington graduate spent a season with Nottingham Forest before heading to Asia to sign for FC Seoul.

In his two seasons in South Korea, the Englishman scored eighteen goals and ten assists. A satisfying result for Seoul’s captain.

FC Seoul adventure over

But he recently decided to part ways with the K League side, with many wondering why he made such a move at this stage of his career.

But SportsBoom have revealed that two unnamed Premier League clubs have expressed an interest in signing the 32-year-old.

That explains why he quit in December, just days before the January transfer window opens.

“Former Manchester United and England international Jesse Lingard is looking forward to a spectacular return to the Premier League, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

“Our sources understand that the 32-year-old midfielder/winger has held initial talks with two Premier League clubs, both of whom wish to remain anonymous, as he looks for a path back to the English top flight.

“Lingard, who has also played for Premier League clubs West Ham and Nottingham Forest, announced earlier this week that he would be leaving South Korean club FC Seoul by mutual consent.

PL returns on the cards

“FC Seoul was happy to see the club captain terminate his contract despite impressing with 18 goals and ten assists in his 66 appearances for the club.

“And that’s because Lingard is confident he can strike a deal to return to the Premier League, where he last played in July 2023 after his one-year contract at Forest was not extended.”

Jesse Lingard made 232 appearances for his boyhood club before joining West Ham United on loan. He can play all over the front line.

With so many top English teams struggling this season, he can also impress from the bench. It will be interesting to see which team he ends up joining.
