The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has arrived, and with it comes a new extended-range electric powertrain that could change the game. Jeep’s largest SUV has also received an updated design, significant price reductions and an easier-to-understand lineup thanks to the brand killing the former non-Grand Wagoneer model.
The 2026 Grand Wagoneer will also carry the Jeep logo for the first time. The original Grand Wagoneer didn’t advertise its heritage with any exterior badging, but the new one proudly wears a Jeep badge, right in the middle of the leading edge of the hood.
Everything new for the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
Aside from the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer’s sharp new styling, the emphasis here is its extended-range electric powertrain. Jeep is calling it REEV, presumably for Range Extended Electric Vehicle, and says it will hit the market in 2026. So it appears that this powertrain will not make its debut in the RAM 1500 REV (formerly RAM 1500 Ramcharger) as originally expected.
The Grand Wagoneer REEV will make 647 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque from its plug-in series hybrid powertrain, which Jeep says is good for 0-60 miles per hour in just five seconds. The SUV’s 3.6-liter V6 will be paired with an onboard 130 kW generator that charges a 92 kWh battery pack. The total range of the REEV model is 800 km, while we estimate that it will achieve a pure electric range of around 240 km. And while towing capacities haven’t been released, we expect them to be impressive; the RAM version of this powertrain can tow up to 14,000 pounds.
The 2026 Grand Wagoneer will also offer the brand’s venerable 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six twin-turbocharged engine. It’s good for 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque, and a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds.
As mentioned, the new design of the Grand Wagoneer is a striking upgrade over the previous model. The front is larger and squarer, while the grille has become wider and slimmer. Slim, full-width LED lighting makes the front end look like a more powerful version of the all-electric Wagoneer S. Jeep is also quick to point out that chrome has been banished from the exterior and the wheel choice ranges in size from 18 to 22 inches.
The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer starts at $62,145 for a base 4×2 model with the Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six engine. Thanks to the absence of the old Wagoneer, that’s more than $20,000 less than the starting price of the 2025 model. However, it doesn’t include a hefty $2,595 destination charge. The SUV can also be equipped with all-wheel drive and is available in standard or long-wheelbase configurations. Unfortunately, Jeep won’t release pricing for the REEV powertrain until closer to its 2026 launch.
TopSpeed’s opinion
Wow, what a makeover. The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer appears more ready than ever to compete with its heavyweight competition. Vehicles like the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and the Ford Expedition have dominated the full-size body-on-frame SUV segment for years, and Jeep’s first-generation Grand Wagoneer didn’t fare so well in the battle. However, the updated 2026 model is ready to take on the battle with more attractive styling and a new powertrain that promises the best of both worlds when it comes to efficiency and power.
The only thing that can stand in Jeep’s way now is Jeep. Our fingers are crossed that the REEV model isn’t delayed as has so often been the case for the Ram version and that its price isn’t prohibitive. Production of the Hurricane-powered Grand Wagoneer begins this year at the company’s Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan, and Jeep can’t afford to have the launch tarnished by recalls. These few concerns aside, the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is an impressive improvement that should do much better in this highly competitive segment.
