Octagon newcomer Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani scored a big win in his debut at UFC Houstondefeating promotional veteran Phil Rowe via decision.
Lebosnoyani controlled much of the opening round, landing some solid strikes before taking Rowe down and lighting him up with a series of nasty elbows against the fence.
Rowe managed to fight her way back up and connect with a nice knee up the middle, but it was Lebosnoyani’s relentless pressure that largely dominated the stanza.
Things were much more competitive in the second, with Rowe defending takedowns and landing some nasty calf kicks. However, Lebosnoyani managed to get Rowe to the mat with less than a minute to go.
Rowe emerged quite quickly, but he failed to offer anything to turn the scorecards back in his favor.

Lebosnoyani tried to put his stamp on things and nailed another takedown in the third, almost taking a guillotine. Rowe defended the submission and got back to his feet before rocking his opponent with a stiff combination in the final seconds of the fight.
Unfortunately, it was too little too late for ‘The Fresh Prince.’
Official result: Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani def. Phil Rowe via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
