Jake Paul suffered the second professional defeat of his polarizing boxing career against former heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua in December. For the first time in his career, Paul was stopped in the ring as Joshua broke Paul’s jaw with a brutal right hand.
Paul hinted that he would take a long break from competing after the Joshua fight, before possibly considering the possibility of rematches with fighters like Tommy Fury and others. He also wants to return to the cruiserweight division to fight for a potential world title.
Paul underwent invasive surgery to repair his broken jaw after the Joshua fight, leading to a likely long road back to the ring in 2026. But Paul recently took a big step back and went under the knife for a second time.
Jake Paul faces major setbacks while recovering from a broken jaw
In a recent one Instagram post, Paul revealed that his recovery had suffered a significant setback.
“I had to undergo jaw surgery again,” Paul said.
“The screws and plates came loose because apparently I haven’t had any rest for the past 2 months whaattttttttt.”
At the time of writing, it is uncertain when Paul will return to the ring, although it is entirely possible that he returns by the end of the year.
In the meantime, Paul and Most Valuable Promotions are making noise with the recent announcement of Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano for an upcoming MMA main event. It marks Rousey’s first fight in 10 years and the first MMA main event under the MVP banner.
As for what’s next for Paul, he will look to repeat the winning streak he went on after his first loss in the ring.
