Jadon Sancho’s career appears to be in jeopardy as Manchester United look to get him off their books.
Last month, The Peoples Person reported that Man United want to get rid of Sancho, with the player apparently having no option left to return to Ruben Amorim’s team.
His loan spell at Aston Villa was turbulent to say the least, with the England winger showing signs of promise while also repeatedly underperforming.
Following a recent embarrassing situation, former Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey has decided to give Sancho some valuable career advice so he can try to right the ship before it’s too late.
A premature replacement
During his Europa League appearance against Go Ahead Eagles, Sancho showed signs of promise, giving him a glimmer of hope that he could convince Villa to sign him permanently.
Unfortunately, the joy was short-lived.
During Villa’s subsequent win over Manchester City, Sancho was brought on to replace Emiliano Buendía after 29 minutes, but was himself taken off the field in the second half.
Villa boss Unai Emery claimed it was always the plan to eliminate Sancho and that this was not due to a poor performance. Yet this indicates that the United loanee is not a crucial part of Emery’s plans, leaving his future in doubt.
Heskey has decided it is time for an honest intervention.
Heskey’s advice for Sancho
“It’s a tough time for the kid, but he’s still young. He’s only 25, so the reality is he can get his career back on track, but he really needs to figure out what he wants from his career,” Heskey explained (10bet Casino via Birmingham Live).
“He needs to start playing regular, consistent football,” Heskey stressed. “We haven’t seen much of it, but we don’t see enough of it. Unless you’re playing regularly, it’s difficult to get that fitness to the level it needs to be.”
“Jadon needs to sharpen up and work hard because technically he is as good as anyone. He is probably technically better than all the other Villa players, but everyone else is ahead of him because they are performing on the pitch while he is not,” the retired striker explained, without criticizing Sancho’s work ethic.
“That’s sad to see, given the heights he was at. He flew for Dortmund, moved to United and was in the England team,” Heskey recalls. “Really at the top of the game, with the best platform. Now he’s here, but the fascinating thing is he can still build himself up.”
The retired forward then recalled his struggles at Liverpool and made sure he built himself back up to represent England in the World Cup. He added that he thinks Sancho could earn a move back to Borussia Dortmund, explaining: “Jadon has a good relationship with Dortmund in the Bundesliga, so that is a path he could take.”
Ultimately, Heskey’s words are a harsh but fair assessment of where Sancho has fallen short. As far as United are concerned, it seems that parting ways with Sancho will be for the best.
