It was Liverpool that seemed like they had 10 men …

5 minutes, 16 seconds Read

As time at 8 p.m. on a sultry holiday in August, where the temperature meter had previously gone at an impressive 82F, the conversation was about a certain striker in Newcastle United, he who had stuck his trade in the number 14 sweater so far and since the 4-0 in Celtic Park.

By a quarter to nine, the focus was aimed at our number 10, an improvised striker who only played TOP because of the absence of the aforementioned Alexander Isak, but whose gross stupidity seemed to have cost Newcastle United.

In the end it still did that, but that says it does not do justice to the shift that the ten men staying on the field, as I really struggle to remember in all my years that the hill crosses to attract those who put on the black -white sweater in St James’ park.

A goal and ten men to the ruling Prime Minister League champions during the break, the heavy task of Newcastle United was expanded by the power of ten within 23 seconds after the restart when Hugo Ekitike was beaten after the efforts of Cody Gakpo were blocked, to take the ball for the visitors.

But earlier in the evening it was Newcastle United that looked into control, dominated the procedure and the defense of Liverpool disturbing, where Anthony Gordon came in relatively fast succession three times, the choice of these opportunities that he is fractionally overth of a Barnes Cross.

Then the competition ran out of nowhere. First, Ryan Gravenberch Pope Footed left and with a little help from the right -handed boots of Fabian Schar and the foot of the post, the Dutchman gave Liverpool the lead in the 35th minute. Ten minutes later, Anthony Gordon saw Red and unnecessarily dragged his studs along the back of the Virgil van Dijk calf, Var helped Simon Hooper to overthrow the yellow card he initially had.

Before Arne Slot could take a seat in the Dugout at the start of the second half, it was 2-0 and singing him over, Newcastle “echoed around the top of level 7 behind the goal of Nick Pope, a clear nod to the optimism that they will retain that Liverpool will acquire our estimated assets before Deadline in a week.

While the whole sorry Saga has been pathogenic, Gordon’s broadcast only served to increase the problems behind the Gallowgate scenes. I don’t think it is healthy to spread the line that Gordon would not have had his marsorders if he was not asked to play top in the absence of Isak. He must take responsibility for his actions and I hope Eddie will throw the book at him. Let’s face it, it’s not the first time that Gordon got his marsorders. Will he learn this time? Although his genuine apology is a way to restore balance, I was the moment I was so furious with Gordon’s reckless behavior and I didn’t really calm down the following morning.

As far as Alexander Isak is concerned, the morning after his teammates have played their hearts, he has to look at a long hard look in themselves, so that the energy they could have really done with holding the tank for Elland Road, and in the case of Tonali, Joelinton and Schar, all with injuries they could keep out for a while.

In the 57th minute our captain Fantastic, Bruno Guimaraes, started the fightback and took advantage of a slapdash defensive to go home from close range after a seductive cross to the area from Tino Livramento. The next half hour it was Liverpool that looked like they had 10 men, because golf after newcastle attacks had them on the ropes. Despite losing the Italian, the Brazilian and the Swiss, United, were not deterred and eventually found an equalizer with only two minutes left on the clock, the often malignant Will Osula who came at the end of Nick Pope’s hopeful Puntfield.

When the fourth civil servant indicated that eleven minutes would be added, Newcastle went for it, forcing a succession of the corners to the Gallowgate end, the nerves of Allison Becker and his defenders further fray. The visitors were certainly worried about that flurry of activity, but as the clock approached the 100th minute, Liverpool called on a winner, their 16 -year -old replacement, Rio Ngumhoa left unark on the rear post toor the ball past a (not for the first time) static Nick Paus.

It was a really pathogenic end to a pathogenic few weeks, but we should be extremely proud of that group of brothers who performed so admirably in the light of such an adversity. To get a foothold in the game and to look at the most likely winner against the ruling champions, who have been 2-0 behind and to ten men, is no easy task.

That said, that expensive injuries and the three match suspension of Gordon, as well as the fact that we have only registered one point at our opening of two games, are probably more important when looking at the larger whole than the 3-2 defeat against the team that we beat in the League Cup final in March.
