Intriguing pre-event facts about UFC 325: Featherweight king has a killer resume

UFC 325 will take place this Saturday in Sydney, Australia, making the promotion eighth expedition to the city. In the main event of UFC 325, the country’s fighting pride, Alexander Volkanovski, defends his featherweight title against the rising Diego Lopes in a highly anticipated rematch.

In the penultimate matchup of the card, New Zealand striking extraordinaire Dan Hooker comes to blows with French star Benoît Saint Denis. UFC 325 also features a main card packed with some of the best competitors from The Land Down Under, including Tai Tuivasa, Jamie Mullarkey and Quillan Salkilld.

Here are some interesting pre-event tidbits about the main card fighters competing at UFC 325:

UFC 325: Quillan Salkilld vs. Jamie Mullarkey

Quillan Salkilld

Salkilld was originally scheduled to fight Rongzhu in the opening fight of the UFC 325 main card, but the Chinese athlete withdrew from the duo and Mullarkey intervened. His appearance at UFC 325 marks his first time competing on home soil since UFC 312 last February.

Seven of his ten wins as a pro have come within margins, five of which ended in the first round.

Jamie Mullarkey

Mullarkey competes at UFC 325 and has been a part of the UFC since 2019, making his debut in the company at UFC 243. His appearance at UFC 325 marks the second consecutive time he has fought in Australia, most recently defending his turf against Rolando Bedoya, whom he defeated by unanimous decision.

In his last five matches he won 2-3.

UFC 325: Tai Tuivasa vs. Tallison Teixeira

Pacific

Tuivasa has lost his last five trips to the Octagon, with his current losing streak dating back to September 2022. He hasn’t won a fight since defeating Derrick Lewis at UFC 271.

He has a finish rate of almost 100 percent, with all but one of his professional leftovers ending up as finishes. He boasts 13 wins by knockout.

Tallison Teixeira

At 6-foot-1, Teixeira is the tallest fighter currently on the UFC roster. All eight of his wins as a pro have ended in the first round since he debuted in late 2021.

He is 1-1 in the organization, winning his freshman appearance against Justin Tafa before losing to Derrick Lewis by stoppage last time out.

UFC 325: Rafael Fiziev vs. Mauricio Ruffy

Rafael Fiziev

All of Fiziev’s losses as a professional have come within the UFC, most notably twice against current interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. He is a former Muay Thai World Champion and has collected outstanding accolades such as 2007, 2008 and 2009 Kyrgyz Muay Thai Champion and 2011 Kazakhstani National Champion.

UFC 325’s Rafael Fiziev trains out of both Tiger Muay Thai and Kill Cliff FC. He is a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Mauricio Ruffy

Ruffy is coming off the first setback of his UFC tenure after losing to Benoît Saint Denis by second-round submission at UFC Fight Night 258, marking his first loss since 2019. 11 of his 12 wins have come by knockout.

He has two Performance of the Night bonuses and achieved these performances against Jamie Mullarkey and King Green.

UFC 325: Dan Hooker vs. Benoit Saint Denis

Hooker trains at City Kickboxing, where great international talent such as Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski are praised. He has won six post-fight awards while competing in the UFC.

Since 2023, he has only competed once a year.

Benoit Saint-Denis

Saint Denis is currently in the middle of a three-fight winning streak, having fought three times in 2025. UFC 325 is his first bout to take place in Australia.

He has stopped all his opposition in his 16 wins as a pro.

UFC 325: Alexander Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopes

Alexander Volkanovsky

Volkanovski is the second man to ever become a two-time undisputed UFC featherweight champion. He previously ruled the division from 2019 to 2024, making five title defenses. He is the first competitor from Australia to capture a UFC championship

He holds the promotional record for most leg kicks in a single fight at age 75, earning this distinction in his first meeting with Max Holloway.

Diego Lopes

Lopes’ appearance at UFC 325 will mark the first time he has fought outside the United States since his last appearance before joining the UFC in late 2022. Four of his eight wins in the organization have ended by stoppage, including three by knockout and one by submission
