Austin Niemiec leads Rocket Pro after Sogorka’s departure

“I am honored to return to Rocket Pro and champion the agents who make homeownership possible in the communities they serve,” Niemiec said in a statement. “Together with Katie [Sweeney]Cory [Scholl], [Mike] Fawaz and the broader team, we will deepen partnerships and achieve faster, more impactful results for loan officers and homebuyers alike.

Sogorka joined Rocket Pro as managing director in September 2024, just months after stepping down as president and CEO of the mortgage technology company Legends. During his tenure, Rocket Pro introduced ten “partner commitments” that set out public commitments to brokers, and introduced new products such as debt service coverage ratio (DSCR) and bridge loans.

After approximately 18 months in the role, Sogorka decided to leave the company for personal reasons. He mentioned family considerations, including a son attending San Diego State University, another nearing high school graduation and a two-year-old daughter.

“The past year and a half has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my career. I have had the opportunity to listen carefully to the broker community and work with the dedicated Rocket team on solutions that made a real difference for brokers and the clients they serve,” Sogorka said in a statement. “While I have enjoyed my time in Detroit and meeting partners across the country, it feels good to be more present with my family in San Diego.”

According to Inside Mortgage Finance, Rocket was the third-largest U.S. mortgage lender in 2025, with $123.7 billion in volume, up 29% year over year. The third-party origination channel produced approximately $36.3 billion from January through September, up 15.3% year over year.
