Indiana guard Lamar Wilkerson returns to his former school. Wilkerson, who switched to the Hoosiers with Sam Houston this year after three, revealed on Thursday that he made an unprecedented, six -digit donation to his former school.
Wilkerson, the overall player no. 45 available in the 247Sports Transfer Rankings, dedicated to Indiana earlier this season outside the season after the last three years with the Bearkats, where he developed into one of the best 3-point shooters in the country.
Wilkerson’s reasoning? He wanted to see his former school thrive.
“I did it out of love, man,” Wilkerson told the 68 field. “I did it out of love for coach (Chris) Mudge, for only Sam Houston. I was there for three years, so it was at home for me. I felt at ease there, I built a family with many people, many donors and everything. … I want to keep seeing that they get better over time. So, I was willing to help.”
Wilkerson came from a career year when he decided to enter the transfer portal. He on average 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists, while shooting an impressive 44.5% from the 3-point line. Wilkerson was highly sought after in the transfer portal because of his power as a shooter. He finally joined Indiana above, among others, Kentucky and Auburn.
Mudge, who enters his third season as a coach of the Bearkats, remained surprised when he heard Van Wilkerson about his donation.

Wilkerson was part of a class -littered class that arrived outside the season this season to play for first -year coach Darian Devries. The Hoosiers Transfer Portal Hul – which finished no. 10 in the 247Sports ranking – was head of Wilkerson, Tucker Devries (West Virginia) and Reed Bailey (Davidson).
