Shreyas Iyer is tipped to replace Rohit Sharma, but former Batsman Aakash Chopra believes that Shubman Gill is getting the nod from the selectors.
Gill has appointed as vice-captain of the T20i team and Chopra thinks this will be a stepping stone for him who has handed over the captain of the ODI side.
“The next (ODI) captain was decided without a formal appointment,” Said Chopra. “It has been decided that the Shubman will be Gill.
“He is the test captain. He was made of T20i Vice captain – perhaps not from because they had a logic. Axar Patel had done nothing wrong, and nobody thought the place would automatically go to him, and you could have argued against it.
“If he has been made the T20i vice-captain, he is already the ODI vice-captain. So don’t ask the question. Gill will be the next captain.
