Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked the help of the Red Cross International Committee (ICRC) to help hostages in Gaza, such as indignation built on videos that show two emaciated.
Netanyahu said on Sunday that he spoke with the ICRC coordinator for the region and “asked for his involvement in providing food to our hostages and … immediate medical treatment”.
The ICRC said in a statement that it was “shocked by the moving videos” and repeated the “call to gain access to the hostages”.
In response, the armed wing of Hamas said that the agency would have access to the hostages, but only if “humanitarian corridors” for food and help were opened “over all areas of the Gaza Strip”.

The Al-Qassam brigades said that it “did not intentionally starved” the hostages, but they would not receive any special food privileges “in the midst of the crime of hunger and siege” in Gaza.

In recent days, Hamas and his ally Islamic Jihad have released three videos with two hostages seized during the attack of 7 October in 2023 on Israel that led to an escalation of the current war.
The images of Rom Braslavski and Evyatar David, both of whom seemed weak and malnourished, fueled renewed calls in Israel for a deal with a file and hostages.
A statement from the Netanyahu office on Saturday said that he had spoken with the families of the two hostages and “expressed an in -depth shock about the materials divided by the terrorist organizations”.

Netanyahu “said the families that the efforts to give back all our hostages are going back,” said the statement.

Thousands of rally in Tel Aviv

Earlier in the day, tens of thousands of people had gathered in the Coastal Hub of Tel Aviv to call on the Netanyahu government to secure the release of the remaining prisoners.
There was special indignation in Israel about images of David, who seemed to dig what he said in the staged video was his own grave.

The videos refer to the terrible humanitarian conditions in Gaza, where United Nations experts have warned that a “famine unfolds”.

Videos ‘exposing the barbarism of Hamas’

EU chef of the Kaja Kallas policy policy said that the images are “terrible and to uncover the barbarism of Hamas”, calling for the release of “all hostages … Immediately and unconditional”.
Kallas said in the same function on X: “Hamas must disarm and end his rule in Gaza” – demand earlier this week approved by Arab countries, including important mediators Qatar and Egypt.

“Large -scale humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach those in need,” she said.

Israel has greatly limited access to Gaza, while UN agencies, humanitarian groups and analysts say that much of what Israel allows is looted or diverted in chaotic conditions.
Many desperate Palestinians are left to risk their lives in search of which help is distributed through controlled channels.

On Sunday, Gaza’s Civil Defense Agency said that Israeli fire killed nine Palestinians who waited to collect food rations from a site managed by the United States and Israelically supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) near the southern city of Rafah.

There was no comment from the army.

Five more people were killed near another GHF help site in Central Gaza on Sunday, while Israeli attacks killed another five people elsewhere, said spokesperson for the civil defense Mahmud Bassal.

‘Omgelden and desperate’

Braslavski and David are among the 49 hostages taken during Hamas’ 2023 attack that are still being held in Gaza, including 27, says the Israeli army, his death.
Most of the 251 hostages seized in the attack were released during two short -lived truts, some in exchange for Palestinians in Israeli detention.
Israel has bombed Gaza since the Hamas attack on October 7 in 2023, in which more than 1,200 people, including an estimated 30 children, were killed and more than 200 hostages were taken, according to the Israeli government. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, more than 60,430 people have been killed in Gaza since 7 October.
The attack of 7 October was an important escalation in the long -term conflict between Israel and Hamas.
