While racing fans all over the world are preparing for the latest renewal of the championships at ASCOT, attention not only focuses on the area of Elite contenders, but also on the rich history of one of the most prestigious flat races of Great Britain. With roots that extend for more than a century, the British champion Stakes is a jewel in the crown of British Racing and an important competition in the Qipco British Champions Day.
In the course of the decades, the Champion Stakes is honored by legends. Horses such as Bayardo (1909) and Trigo (1929) – the last to also have won the Derby and St Army – added shine to the legacy of the race. In more modern times, De Grote Frankel delivered one of the most memorable performances in racing history when he signed his unbeaten career with an impressive victory in the 2012 edition under Tom Queally for trainer Sir Henry Cecil.

Delacroix
The three -year -old Delacroix is a third favorite to win the 2025 Champion Stakes at the time of writing. And the foal looks ready to challenge when he looks at his shape, with four wins and a second place in his six starts so far this calendar year.
He mainly impressed the previous time out, because he remained good to win the Irish Champions Stakes by just being shy of a strong field in Leopardstown.
