Important official injury update from Newcastle United ahead of the Manchester City Cup semi-final

An official injury update from Newcastle United ahead of the match against Manchester City.

Eddie Howe looks ahead to the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final after four straight wins.

United advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup and also rise into the top six of the competition.

Another home game now at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United will take on Manchester City on Tuesday evening at 8pm, with the matches coming in quick succession.

Eddie Howe provides this Newcastle United injury update.

Official Newcastle United injury update from Eddie Howe:

After the marathon that was Saturday’s Bournemouth match (which followed a similarly tough match against Leeds on Wednesday), Eddie Howe said for Manchester City tomorrow night:

“I will have discussions with the medical team and the performance team; physical levels and energy levels are of utmost importance for this competition.

“We will have to make decisions based on that.

“This is a huge challenge. Some players have just played 120 minutes and are asked to go again a few days later, but I would like to think that, physically and mentally, we will be ready to go again at kick-off.”

About specific players.

Eddie Howe on Tino Livramento

The NUFC head coach says Tino will undergo a scan of his hamstring today and the full extent of the injury will then be known.

Anthony Elanga

Eddie Howe says the winger will train today and could return to the matchday squad on Tuesday evening.

Then Burns

Eddie Howe hopes to have Burn available again within a few weeks.

Jacob Murphy

Like Elanga, Murphy will train today after missing the match against Bournemouth and will hopefully be part of the matchday squad again tomorrow evening.
