Connections will remain patient with Impaire Et Passe as they aim to take advantage of optimal conditions in the spring.

Good ground is seen as crucial for the Willie Mullins-trained eight-year-old, who has won each of the Grade One events at Aintree in the last two seasons and could have the Grand National Festival on his agenda again.

However, there is still hope he can be seen in action beforehand at the Cheltenham Festival, where he currently has entries for both the Ryanair Chase and the Gold Cup.

Daryl Jacob, the former regular rider for owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede who tasted Grade One success aboard Impaire Et Passe in Limerick in December 2024 before announcing his retirement, now acts as race manager for the ‘Double Green’ operation.

He said: “Impaire Et Passe is big and he likes the nicer ground and at the moment it’s all a bit too soft and muddy for him. We want to have a nice spring with him so we want to keep him fresh and healthy before then.”

“Good ground is key for him, he enjoys that and he has options at Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown.

“It’s between two and a half and five kilometers long and I think it will definitely stay, but I imagine it would start on the intermediate stage and then work its way up.

“We were hoping we could get him to Cheltenham and something like Ryanair would be something for him. There’s then a month from Cheltenham to Aintree where he won last year and then a smaller gap to Punchestown, but those spring festivals are where we really want him to race.”
