Lindsey Langston, ex-girlfriend of Republican Congressman Cory Mills, testified against him in court on Friday and accused the legislator of Florida of threatening her safety and reputation by releasing any intimate videos of the two. Langston, Miss United States and a Republican State Committee, is looking for a restrictive order. Langston went out several times while he testified and told the court that she went alone to the police after Mills repeated requests to let her ignore her alone. “He is powerful, connected and rich,” Langston told the court, adding that she just wanted to go and live a normal life. She further claimed that Mills had threatened to harm everyone with whom she went out.“I’m scared. I thought I could handle it myself. Please help me,” she added.Langston went to Florida’s authorities for the first time about the relationship in July. She testified on Friday that the allegation of February with another woman forced her to end things with him. She also claimed that Mills misled her about that woman and wrongly told her that he was divorced while he was still married.
Mills denied misconduct. He claimed that his phone was damaged and said he no longer had explicit content. He argued that his references to ‘videos’ were about clips that Longston had already shared online. “I’m done with this relationship,” he added. Mills has suggested that the allegations are politically motivated and are linked to his former rival Anthony Sabatini, who admitted to give Langston legal advice, but her formally denied her represented.Circuit judge Fred Koblein did not give a statement because the hearing exceeded the planned 90 minutes. A new hearing will soon be set. The case comes when Mills is confronted with a broader investigation, including a home ethic probe about federal contracts and calls from Democrats for his censorship, Politico reported. He was also accused earlier this year of attacking another woman in Washington, although no charges were filed.
