The exact salary of Ilkay Gundogan in Galatasaray was unveiled after his free transfer from Manchester City.

The 34-year-old former Germany International, who is of Turkish heritage, was confirmed as the ninth summer signing of Galatasaray on Tuesday.

Gundogan followed Leroy Sane, Ismail Jakobs, Przemyslaw Frankowski, Victor Osimhen, Mustafa Duru, Arda Yilmaz, Wilfried Singo and Ugurcan Cakir at the Turkish Super Lig champions.

Galatasaray statement reveals the salary of Gundogan

When confirming the arrival of Gundogan, Galatasaray included the exact financial conditions in their announcement.

“A two -year contract has been signed with the player, effective of the 2025-2026 season”, read a club statement.

“According to the agreement, the player receives a net guaranteed salary of € 4,500,000 per season.”

That means that Gundogan will earn just over € 86,500 (£ 75,000) a week after tax in Istanbul.

Galatasaray continues to pay transparency trend

Galatasaray’s decision to reveal public details about the salary of Gundogan is part of a recent trend at the club, which did the same for their other summer signing sessions.

For example, when Leroy Sane came in the window earlier, the club confirmed that he would get € 9 million net per season plus a loyalty bonus of € 3 million. The five -year -old deal of defender Wilfried Singo was also fully published, which revealed an annual salary of € 4.8 million net.

Although most major European clubs still prefer to report ‘unknown’ transfer costs, Galatasaray has chosen to embrace transparency. Each of their financial summaries is signed with the message: “Respectfully announced to the public.”

Gundogan will earn much less than Victor Osimhen

At the very top of the scale is Victor Osimhen, whose blockbuster of € 75 million from Napoli made him Galatasaray’s biggest signing of all time.

As announced by Galatasaray, Osimhen earns a net per season of € 15 million, with an extra loyalty bonus of € 1 million and € 5 million per year in image rights.

That places the total package from Osimhen more than four times higher than that of Gundogan.

Gundogan is not the only player who leaves Man City for Turkey this week. Despite an earlier approach to Galatasaray, the Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson chose to become a member of Fenerbahce on Tuesday. Fenerbahce did not publish any details of his salary.

How much earned Gundogan at Man City?

What Gundogan earned in Manchester City was never officially announced, but several reports placed his last Etihad deal at about £ 230,000 a week gross – about £ 12 million a year before tax.

That figure means that his new contract in Turkey is financially an important step.

However, Gundogan seems very happy with his decision to become a member of Galatasaray – a team that he supported as a boy.

On Wednesday, Gundogan went to social media to post two photos. One showed him that he was holding the Galatasaray Badge on his shirt, while in the other pride he stood next to wife Sara Arfaoui and a Turkish flag.

Gundogan endors the images with the words: “My childhood love and my love for my life”.
