The lion ribbons came to the top of a fascinating final and defeated Austria 34-33 in the extension to retain the title they won two years ago.
The Austrians were at the point to win their fourth continental title before Great Britain sent the match to the extra period, so that the scores level on 27-27 in the control time.
The British side pulled the first blood thanks to a Marta Mathews overtime touchdown, with Grace Conway Add a point to go up 34-27.
Austria responded with a Magdalena -Helm Touchdown and opted for a two-point conversion, which was eventually beaten by Mathews to give Great Britain the narrow victory.
In the men’s final, Italy finally got the gold medal after the second time on four previous occasions.
The Azzurri defeated colleague Perennial Runner-Up Austria 27-19 to deny them their first gold medal since the inaugural tournament in 2003.
Italy gave a 21-6 half-time lead thanks to three Vincent Papale-Touchdowns, while Jordan Bouah added more points with a score.
Austria Simon Knoll And Valentin Ehrenfried Added to the score sheet on their part, but it wasn’t enough to catch up with the Italians.
