Kieran Trippier did a huge performance on Wednesday evening.
The right back in great form when he and his teammates Union SG tore apart in the Champions League.
Now is the big challenge to follow that up with a different victory, this afternoon against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Kieran Tripper became 35 last month but has now declared; “I feel that the strongest I’ve ever felt.”
The club that Kieran Trippier’s MatchDay program publishes -comments (see below) prior to this Premier League match against Nottingham Forest.
With Newcastle United with 2-0 on the break and then 3-0 at 64 minutes, this meant that Eddie Howe had the luxury to save the legs of some of his outfield players, with exactly half the ten immersed during the second half, including Kieran Trippier.
With the current English international Tino Livarismento, which looks at the earliest at the end of November, it is a very positive positive to have a (much drained) England international available.
Kieran Trippier speaks with official Newcastle United media – October 5, 2025:
‘There was a feeling that we are really starting our Champions League campaign in Brussels in the midweek. Now we have to follow that version and do the same in the Premier League.
Defensively we did well throughout the season, but we worked as a unit to have the attacking part clicked. Wednesday evening was a look at what we can do in the future, and hopefully that can continue today against Nottingham Forest.
This is a big game that starts the international break. Forest may not have hit the heights of last season, but they are a top of top players and we slowly started campaigns more than once before we rise strongly. So this will be a difficult game, because they are all in the Premier League, and we will respect our opponents.
That is what we did against Union Saint-Gilloise. The defeat against Arsenal seven days ago was difficult to take, but we knew we had to bounce back and show a reaction. And it doesn’t matter who you are playing, in the Champions League, away from home, a victory is always huge.
For a reason, Union is at the top of the Belgian Pro League and they had already defeated PSV, who are a good side, so it was a great achievement of the entire team and a good night.
The work to keep a fifth clean slate of the season started from the front, but as a backline we thrive away to keep the opposition out and to give the attacking players a platform to win the game.
New players came to the team and it would certainly need a little time to find out our play patterns and movements. We know how ruthless it is with a game every three days, but we have the team to do that now – as well as players to come back from injury to further stimulate us.
It was really good news that Tino Livramento’s injury is not as bad as first feared, and that he will be back relatively quickly. We play in the same position, but I have had competition throughout my career and we always help and support each other. I wish him the very best in his recovery and I am happy that it is not long -term injury.
At the age of 35 I feel the strongest I have ever felt. There are so many games and you have to be ready to take on every occasion. I enjoy my football.
I was happy to get minutes in the midweek and it can continue for a long time.
Finally, it is always good to see Elliot Anderson in St. James’ Park and even better to see him return as a completely international in England. I am not surprised that, after he has moved elsewhere to show his skills, he has shown what an incredible player he is. He is a geordie through and through and I have the greatest respect for him. ‘
