Hull City will welcome Semi Ajayi against Ipswich Town, reports Baz Cooper.

Hull City travel to Ipswich Town in the Championship on Tuesday evening and manager Sergej Jakirovic has been handed a boost, with defender Semi Ajayi expected to return to the side.

Center back Ajayi, 32, has been absent since AFCON due to a hamstring injury, but journalist Baz Cooper says Ajayi will return to the matchday squad on Tuesday evening.

However, Cooper also adds that the match will come too soon for Man United loanee Toby Collyer, who has made just one appearance since moving to the MKM Stadium in January.

Hull City’s full injury list

Jakirovic has ruined Hull City’s injury list all year. HCAFC have retired a number of first-team players, but the list looks set to become much smaller in the coming weeks, although Ryan Giles recently suffered a muscle injury and is expected to miss a few weeks.

Mohamed Belloumi, Darko Gyabi, Yu Hirakawa, Matty Jacob and Eliot Matazo are all currently injured, but Matt Crooks made his return in the last outing against Portsmouth.

Championship news

The versatile former Middlesbrough man came off the bench to score the winning goal at Fratton Park last time out. said Jakirovic BBC Humberside on Crooks’ return: “He is a very important player for us. We have missed him a lot because he gives us a lot of energy, a lot of challenges and second balls, and he is also very important in set pieces.”

Hull City’s next five championship games

HCAFC have now won their last two games and find themselves in 5th place of the Championship table with 60 points, now just three points behind Middlesbrough in 2nd place.

But their next few matches are very tough. After clinching 4th place Ipswich Town, Hull City play at home to 3rd place Millwall and they go to 6th place Wrexham, so there could be a lot of movement in the Championship play-off places over the next month.

After that, HCAFC have a few more favorable fixtures as they take on managerless West Brom at The Hawthorns before hosting relegated Sheffield Wednesday on March 21 before the international break.

The fact that Crooks is back, along with Ajayi and soon Collyer, will be a huge boost for Hull City as they enter this highly testing, high-pressure series of games, with everything still to be played in the race for the top six this season.

The match between HCAFC and Ipswich Town starts on Tuesday evening at 7.45pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
