The South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun said that around 300 of the detained South Korean subjects were, including employees of partner companies who visit business trips. Allegedly, many had entered the US in short business visas or under the Visa Waiver program, but immigration authorities concluded that their activities on the site did not match with the purpose of their stay.
“The economic activities of our investment firms and the rights of our citizens should not be violently violated during the American law enforcement operations,” “ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday, according to local media. “We have also transmitted our concerns and regret by the American embassy in Seoul, and urge them to ensure that the legitimate rights and interests of our citizens are fully protected.”
