From 1 September, Victorian owners will race for a maximum of $ 2.75 million in breeding and sales vouchers under a new two-year initiative.
The Vicbred Vouchers program will wear 550 races in the next two seasons $ 5000 vouchers for winning owners, giving them a lead on breeding or buying their next winners.
Fokkers will also get a direct boost, with the Vicbred Super Series Heats, Semi-Final, finals and comfort to grant $ 5000 vouchers to the winning breeder and $ 5000 to the winning owner.
The announcement is part of a $ 3 million breeding and property support initiative via the Victorian Racing Industry Fund, with money that is also allocated to compensate owners for changes in microchipping processes.
Harness Racing Victoria Chief Executive Officer Matt Isaacs said that the two -year obligation would encourage ownership and strengthen breeding in Victoria.
“These vouchers will further reward owners and breeders and encourage them to build on their proud involvement with Victorian harness races,” said Isaacs.
“Hundreds of owners and breeders will get enormous incentives in the next two years to breed in Victoria, which is a victory for all involved in sport.”
The Vicbred -Vouchers give owners $ 5000 to:
- The purchase of a Vicbred Puur or Vicbrede Platinum nominates yearling at the Nutrien or Australian Pacing Gold Victorian Standard Bred Sales
- Or compensating a service by a Victorian registered father, subject to the mare that is inseminated and foal in Victoria
The $ 2.75 million at $ 5000 vouchers will be distributed as follows:
- $ 750,000 over 150 Maiden Race winners from September 1, 2025 to November 30, 2026
- $ 750,000 over 150 open-age racing winners from September 1, 2025 to November 30, 2026
- $ 1.25 million over 250 winning owners and breeders from 2025 & 2026 Vicbred Super Series Heats, Semi-Final, Finals and Troost
In the coming weeks, HRV will announce the first races to wear the $ 5000 Vicbred vouchers.
Harness -breeders Victoria President John Coffey said it was the “perfect announcement with perfect timing”.
“This is definitely the best news that the industry can have in Victoria at the moment,” said Coffey.
“A certificate bonus means that it must be spent back on the industry, maximizing the benefit. It is great that it will come in force from 1 September prior to the breeding season that starts in September, and it will certainly be positive for the sale of a yearling next year.”
Nutrien Equine manager Mark Barton said that the announcement would stimulate industry and future sales.
“Nutrien welcomes this exciting schedule, which will stimulate direct ownership and investments in Victorian breeding,” said Barton.
“The state has an excellent tradition of quality breeding, which has fueled the buying of Nutrien, and this initiative will only strengthen and build that success.”
Australian Pacing gold chairman Robert Marshall said that the sales company ‘welcomed this great initiative’.
“This is a fantastic announcement,” said Marshall. “This will be an excellent opportunity to breathe new life into breeding.
“We have planned our sale for Hunter Cup weekend, and this initiative is a supplement to our sale and the existing bonuses that APG offers.”
