Houston Avenue Bridge undergoes emergency repairs after the 3rd time in Sept.: Txdot

Houston, Texas (Ktrk) – Incoming lanes of the Katy Freeway will continue to complete on Sunday as crews at the Houston Avenue Bridge, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

As you may remember, the Houston Avenue Bridge has been hit several times in recent months, with the previous three authorities that only take place in September. In total it has been hit almost 69 times, officials confirm.

The closures are in large places, starting with the I-10 Katy Freeway from Shepherd Drive to Durham Drive and extend to Houston Avenue.

The second effect area will be from Antoine Drive to Shepherd Drive, where four lanes are closed.

To circumvent the closures, drivers can take the I-610 North Loop or the Eastex Freeway.

The bridge repairs take place until Monday, 5 hours on September 15, according to Txdot.

The bridge is expected to be replaced as part of the White Oak Bayou Elevation Project, which is designed to reduce floods along the highway, according to TXDOT plans. This area will be under construction until the end of 2028 or early 2029.
