Five years after a serious hip injury, Priscilla Hon Vecht for a place in the fourth round of the US Open.

Priscilla Hon thought she would never play professional tennis again. In 2020, the hip -slan tear of the Queenslander compared the damage to that of a victim of a motorcycle accidents.

However, five years after her career-length injury, Hon is in career-best form. After she qualified for Wimbledon for the first time in June in June in June, she also qualified at Flushing Meadows.

Now, after victories against Leolia Jeanannean and No.17 Seed Liudmila Samsonova, Hon wants to reach the fourth round of a major for the first time.

An achievement that initially seemed impossible, the inner faith and the resilience of the 27-year-old helped her to return to her best.

“They (the doctors) did not know if I could play professional tennis again and move in the same way as I was. I was clearly distraught,” she thought about her diagnosis of 2020. “So, coming back to one of my favorite slams, qualifying, making the third round. I really don’t have any words now.

“Believing in yourself is so big. I know everyone knows that, but it’s so hard to really do it, and I think that’s the biggest key for me.”

American Ann Li stands in the way and the continuation of her fairy tale run. They have never confronted each other.

More is at stake for the Australian than a trip to the second week. Currently ranked world no. 106 In the live WTA rangers, Victory Hon would secure its Maiden Top-100 berth.

In other meetings on the third round, Daria Kasatkina focuses on her third round of 16 performance at Flushing Meadows. She wants to beat two -time champion Naomi Osaka for the first time in her career, a player who won eight of her last nine games.

“It will be a very tough game,” she said. “Naomi is back on track, she shows good results. She was a winner here twice, so she is used to this place. But I am not a person who gives up.”

In the meantime, Alex de Minaur is opposed to the German Daniel Altmaier, who prevailed over Stefanos Tsitsipas in a debilitating five-set thriller.

The Minaur won their earlier meeting convincingly when he only dropped five games against the world No. 56 in Rotterdam in February this year.
