Hit the ball well with poor results

Yesterday I played in a double clambering with my friend Len. We looked very strong on paper, but the results did not accept the hype. We were matched with Blair and Fernando according to last year and in general we had a great time. There were a lot of laughter and jokes shared by everyone. While I played my round, it became clear that something was wrong with my game, because I would hit the ball very well with poor results. I was short, although I had a lot of club to reach my goal distance. My line was largely very good, but distance control was far away. I think I know why and will solve this problem.

The temperature was around 20 ° C (68 ° F) and sunny yesterday. The wind was cool and in general it was a pleasant day on the golf course. It was windy that I stated at every shot. Unfortunately I had a shortage of most of my approach photos. My ball looked fantastic from the club, but it would fall out of the sky about 10 meters short from my goal distance. I think I know (after thinking about it) what the problem was and I think I am not really surprised after some research.

When we walked to the first tee, I brought out a brand new title Pro V1x. This ball is designed “The Titleist Pro V1X has no required swing speed, but the higher compression and spinning speed are better suited for faster swing speeds, usually 95-105+ MPH, for optimum distance and control.” “The high and medium game spider of the Pro V1X golf ball is harmful to the consistency and accuracy of some high handicap golfers.” Given the description of this golf ball, it is not suitable for my golf game. Although I am considered a lower handicap player, I have a spider speed challenge of the T -shirt and with some of my irons. This high spinning speed causes a shorter distance from the club and I knew this fact, but had to learn the lesson in the hard way. I should have used another ball like my Wilson 50 (which I had two dozen in my vehicle).

Traditionally I turn my ball into a lower wave ball in the fall. My swing speed is usually around 95 mph and a lower compression wave ball would be the one I need to maximize my playing capacity. As mentioned, I made a lot of contact, I just didn’t see the expected results. It was frustrating and I did not offer that I used the wrong ball until after the round.

Len played very well (as expected) and I did contribute a bit. However, we shot a disappointing 2 below. We shot 5 birdies with 3 bogeys. Not the round we expected.

However, we had two great meals, a fantastic time on the golf course, and in general we will try to play as a team again next year! Osprey Links Golf Course set up a fantastic event and as always the staff was polite, professional and fascinating. Thanks to Jeff and his team for another fantastic event.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
