Legendary land near where George Washington led the Continental Army in the Battle of Monmouth during the Revolutionary War in 1778, now home to the 40th club in the Concert Golf portfolio

Battleground Country Club, a 220-acre luxury private club located between New York City and Trenton, New Jersey, has joined the Concert Golf Partners family of premium private clubs as its 40th property, further expanding Concert’s presence in the Philadelphia-New Jersey-New York corridor.

Located near the site of the revolutionary War’s groundbreaking 1778 Battle of Monmouth, Battleground Country Club offers its members a rare blend of historic significance and modern private club amenities. George Washington is said to have surveyed his troops from a hill near the club as he rallied the Continental Army during the historic battle.

Battleground’s owners, the Maschler family and Michael McCarty, selected Concert Golf Partners to continue the club’s legacy. Their decision underscores Concert’s reputation as the preferred successor to thriving, high-end private clubs seeking long-term stewardship, continuity and a seamless transition for members. With substantial financial resources and a long-term ownership philosophy, Concert is uniquely positioned to invest in leading clubs while preserving their own culture and traditions.

“Concert Golf is deeply committed to upholding the high standards and traditions that define our clubs, and Battleground’s remarkable history and committed membership make it a natural fit within our portfolio,” said Jordan Peace, Senior Vice President of Concert Golf Partners. “We look for exceptional private clubs where thoughtful investments and a member-centric approach can further enhance the overall club experience.”

“We are extremely proud of what we have built at Battleground Country Club since we took ownership in 2009,” said Erik Maschler, co-owner of Battleground. “We are confident that Concert Golf Partners is the right steward to continue investing in the Club as they provide our members with a standard of service that enriches and strengthens Battleground’s storied tradition. We will be forever grateful for the many memories and relationships we have built at the Club.”

Based near Orlando, Concert Golf Partners is a boutique owner and operator focused exclusively on private clubs. Designed by Hal Purdy in 1961, and later rerouted and renovated in the early 2000s by the Northeast Collaborative led by Robert McNeill, Battleground’s par-71 golf course extends for nearly 7,000 yards and is rated 73.7, with a slope of 133. The club also features two swimming pools, four tennis courts, a cigar lounge and multiple dining options. The colonial-style clubhouse can host weddings and special events for up to 500 guests.

Legendary CBS sports commentator Jim Nantz worked at Battleground Country Club for then-head pro Tony Bruno in the 1970s – an experience that helped shape Jim’s lifelong passion for golf.

Concert Golf Partners is highly selective in expanding its portfolio and focuses on leading private clubs near major metropolitan markets. The company is known for the positive impact it has on club communities and surrounding property values through long-term investments and thoughtful management.
