India recovered in Dharamsala to take a lead in the five-match T20I series. After losing in New Chandigarh last time, the Indian contingent seemed determined to turn the tables amid the mountains. The bowlers did a remarkable job, and the rest was for the batters to chase.
The chase was a piece of cake for the Indian team, but this was probably the best chance for the Indian captain and vice-captain to revive their form by taking time to play an important innings and get some runs on the scoreboard.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif seemed unhappy with Suryakumar Yadav not batting at number one. 3 on this occasion as it was the ideal opportunity for the skipper to get his form back on track.
Kaif thought India were chasing a very small target and had a stunning start as Abhishek Sharma turned up the heat in the powerplay; all it took was Suryakumar Yadav coming in and playing his natural game and scoring an unbeaten 30-40 runs to take his team home with a lead.
“It would have been good for the upcoming matches. He is a solid player and no one doubts his skills with the bat,” Kaif said.
“Questions are about his form. He has been a good player; therefore, questions are about his form. He had a good chance to bat and not stay out, which could have been good for the remaining T20Is before the World Cup. One innings can turn a player into another player. When Tilak Varma was sent to No. 3, cameras were on Suryakumar Yadav,” he added.

Mohammad Kaif also claimed that when a batsman is low on confidence, he is bound to have doubts; However, that doesn’t mean you’ll be hiding in the dugouts.

He also noted that when Gill was dismissed he had thrown his hands at the ball, exposing the inner half of his bat. Kaif suggests that this happened due to the lack of form and big innings for the Indian batsman. He said Gill himself would certainly have understood that he had missed a very good opportunity to come back.
“Cricket is a form game. If you get lazy or late with your footwork, the wicket will fall. A batsman cannot afford to misplay even one shot, and Gill played one misplay to get out,” he concluded.
