The Edmonton Oilers have placed veteran Adam Henrique on injured reserve and revealed his expected return won’t happen until after the Olympic break. While his injury may not be a seven-week issue, it will be that long before he can play again as the league takes time off between February 6 and 24.
That means: no Henrique for the next 15 games. It’s a loss for the Oilers as they need to fill that hole with another center.
On Tuesday, the improvised line of Matt Savoie, Ike Howard and Jack Roslovic worked well together and had early chemistry. Head coach Kris Knoblauch will likely return it Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets, hoping the early chemistry turns into actual offensive production.
On the fourth line, the Oilers will likely reintroduce Trent Frederic into the lineup, hoping he can produce more than he has in the first 40 games of this season.
In 43 games so far this season with the Oilers, Henrique has scored two goals, eight assists and 10 points. He is having a down year after a 2024-25 season in which he had 12 goals, 15 assists, 27 points and a plus-2 rating in 82 games for the Oilers.
