Harshit Rana gives Team India good news after being ruled out of T20 World Cup 2026

Harshit Rana has been one of the pillars for the Indian team in the white-ball format. The Delhi pacer was also part of the 2026 T20 World Cup squad; However, Rana was ruled out due to an injury he sustained during the warm-up match against South Africa. He was seen holding his knee as he left the field.

Harshit Rana has undergone surgery after suffering from joint pain during the match against the Proteas. Posting on his Instagram, he said: “The surgery was done well ✅, now focused on recovery and getting back to what I love.”

Harshit Rana has been replaced by Mohammed Siraj in the T20 World Cup squad. Rana may also miss out on the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) as it will take him several months to recover after the surgery and he will have to recuperate at the BCCI Center of Excellence to obtain the fitness certificate before he can compete further.

Harshit Rana was one of the cricketers who was criticized for his inclusion in the squad in every format of the game. However, he has silenced the critics with his performances in different formats for the Indian team. Last year, he emerged as India’s highest wicket-taker in the men’s ODIs for 2025, ending the year with 20 wickets in 11 matches.

Harshit was a key to the success of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the year 2024 where he played brilliantly under Gautam Gambhir’s tenure as mentor. So after Gambhir became head coach, he also played in all three formats for India. There were rumors that Harshit is playing due to Gambhir’s favoritism; However, his performances silenced everyone.

Harshit Rana, in the T20I format, has found his rhythm and he has picked nine wickets in nine matches for the side with an economy of 10.20. He was part of the ICC Champions Trophy winning team and was the fourth highest wicket-taker in the competition for India, taking four wickets.

Harshit Rana in the IPL was brilliant for KKR as he was the third wicket-taker for the franchise last season and picked up 15 wickets in the previous edition of the competition. He will be a big miss as he is expected to miss at least the first half of the competition.
