The wicketkeeper-batsman could have scored a potential second T20I ton. However, he was sent eight runs short thanks to a blinder from Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza as he ran from the 30-yard circle to the fence. It was also the first wicket he fell for Afghanistan. The score was 159 in the 16th at the fall of the wicket.
The match saw skipper Ibrahim Zadran register 60 off 49 balls while Sediqullah Atal remained not out with 35 off just 15 balls. Raza was the most economical bowler of the bunch, conceding just 20 runs in his four-over quota, while Brad Evans was also impressive, taking two wickets for just 33 runs in his four overs.
Raza proved to be the highest run-getter for his side, amassing 51 off 29. Ryan Burl’s 37-run cameo brought five sixes, while Brian Bennett registered 47 off 31 at the top of the order. However, Zimbabwe failed to prevent a clean sweep. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Fareed Ahmad took a pair of wickets each while Abdollah Ahmadzai, playing his sixth T20I, finished with three wickets.
