Manchester United wants to hand Harry Maguire a new contract Football insider. The England international centre-back is himself open to a stay at Old Trafford.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke said on the Indoor track podcast: “Well, that winning goal at Anfield didn’t do any harm at all, did it?
“It’s obviously a really big moment for Maguire, that late goal against Liverpool [19 October] to let them win at Anfield for so long.
As long as he still has an important role to play for Manchester United, I still feel there is a willingness from all parties to get a new contract done.
“Maguire is very open to staying at Man United. There is interest from the Saudi professional league, but Maguire would prefer to stay at Manchester United as long as the conditions are right.
“Look, he’s obviously in the last few months of his contract now and there are discussions going on between United and Maguire’s representatives. I think it’s more likely that he will sign a new contract. It will obviously be on new terms as well.”
“So I think with the willingness of all parties to get a deal done, you would expect Maguire to get a new contract at Manchester United and extend his stay at Old Trafford.”
