The tension between Haaland, now 25, and the 18-year-old Lewis-Skelly dates from a fiery 2-2 league collision between Arsenal and City in September 2024.Read more
Lewis-Skelly saw the match between the two teams make his Arsenal debut with Haaland who turned to him and shouted, “Who the F *** are you?”
Lewis-Skelly got revenge over Haaland when Arsenal hit City 5-1 in February and the Lotus celebration of the Norwegian copied after scoring a goal.
After the competition, Lewis-Skelly shared a ‘keep it humble’ message on his Instagram-in a collaboration with adidas-in which was a reference to Haaland that Mikel Arteta told to ‘remain modest’.
Haaland has now responded to the English teenager in a new interview and tells time: ‘They won the game 5-1. So yes, they got me.
‘If he wanted to use that moment to mock me, that is fair enough for him. Whatever he wants to do, he can do. ‘
When he interviewed in September 2024 about his now notorious ‘Stay Humble’ in Arteta, Haaland promised to continue to use the sentence.
“I think it is an important sentence that many people should use, including myself,” added Haaland.
“It is one of the most important things, as individuals, to do.”
Arsenal and Manchester City have fueled a competitive advantage between them, after they have fought closely in recent years for the Premier League title – although Liverpool took the lead last season.
Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal was second to the city in both the 2023 campaigns and in 2024. In 2025 the Gunners were again second, while City slid to third place.
Their next confrontation is planned for September 21, when Arsenal welcomes the Pep Guardiola team at the Emirates Stadium.
The return bone is planned for April 18, when the Gunners will travel to the Etihad for the Rematch.
