Hangzhou Tennis preview, pick and prediction: Bublik vs. Wu

When Alexander Bublik is motivated, he is able to produce scary tennis.

And that is exactly what the 19th -arranged Kazakh has done on almost a consistent base dating all the way back to the French open (apart from a hiccup in the first round in Wimbledon and a loss of eruption for Jannik Sinner in round four of the US Open). During this piece, Bublik has conquered three titles on two different surfaces.

It is a complete stream ahead for the 28-year-old in the Hangzhou open, where he has been advanced with victories over Aleksandar Vukic and Dalibor Svrcina. Bublik knew SVRCina 6-1, 6-1 in just 53 minutes on Sunday evening.

Next for the number 3 seed on Monday is a semi -final against Wu for their very first meeting. Finally armed with a clean health account, the 25-year-old from China is in revival. Wu had only won two races at ATP level before this week, but he has defeated Adrian Mannarino, Sebastian Korda and Daniil Medvedev so far for the home crowd.

Yibing Wu

Wu needed three hours and 11 minutes to pass Medvedev on Sunday evening. The World No. 196 came back from a set and a break, plus he took a medical time out for a shoulder problem halfway through the game. Needless to say, it was an extremely unlikely victory.

The disturbance of Bublik would be even more surprising in view of the circumstances.
