Whitney Colbert has taken from her position as Hamline Head Women’s Hockey Coach.

“I really want to thank Hitney for her dedicated service at Hamline University and our Hockey program for women,” said Hamline assistant VP/athletic director Alex Focke in a statement. “She has continued to increase our team and the program and led with integrity and class. We are grateful for her contributions and wish her and her family the best.”

Colbert achieved a record of 56-44-1 for her four seasons that the Pipers led. Her leadership at Hamline included a 15-10 general record in the 2021-22 season, which resulted in a second place in the MIAC. That season also contained an exciting 2-1 overtime victory against Gustavus Adolphus, the final national second place. In the 2023-24 season, Colbert won her best record and led the pipers to an 18-8 general brand and 13-5 in Miac Play.

During her Hamline career, Colbert has successfully coached All-American players such as Elizabeth Valley (2023), Jordan Hansen (2022) and Molly Garin (2022). Her coaching subjessions include guiding Miac Player of the Year winners, a Sheila Brown Award receiver and various selections of All-Conference.

“After a lot of reflection, I made the difficult decision to resign as a main lady hockey coach at Hamline University,” said Colbert. “This has not been an easy choice, but with the recent addition of our baby girl it ultimately comes down to making the best decision for us as a family at the moment.

“I want to extend my deepest thanks to Hamline University, the athletic department and especially Alex Focke, Beth Rittler and Chris Hartman for their non -repellent support and the incredible opportunity to lead this program. It was an absolute honor to collaborate with such dedicated professionals.

“For the players and families, past and present, thank you for trust, dedication and passion. Together we have built something very special and I will always be proud of what we have achieved.”
