The Diamond Creek/SBSR Southern Surge Finals in Gore Tomorrow are the winter final for Southern Harness Racing. Kirsten Green has prepared nine runners for the event and Winton Horseman Tyler Dewe has introduced three.
All peak final are worth $ 25,000 and most fields are full and competitive.
Raspalias (Johny Rock) Form fell away after she had tensioned two victories together in June. She gets half a row in race two for Green.
“She works great. She was unlucky last week and hit the line well. With a bit of luck, she is more than able to get a little money,” she said.
Tyler provides Lady Whistledown (What the hill) For Winton trainer Jamie Campbell who is currently on vacation. The Trotter is no longer to start in race three.
“She is a horse with a little talent, but does not have too much Ringcraft. The day she will be drock the day she comes close to winning,” said Dewe.
Artmore (Art Major) Gets a nice marble in race four for DeWe. After two solid third parties, she raced over her last start and finished eighth.
“She won’t do that again. I have removed the blinds and set up the anti-choke device to give the driver a little more control. We are going back to driving her. I would say she would be the first in the markings and hand to what she wants.”
Green has four runners in Race Six – Ginerva (Bettor’s pleasure), Certainly to rise (Lazarus), Mind Philly (Art Major) and Shergar (Bettor’s pleasure).
Ginerva was impressive when winning her last start in Ascot Park.
“She left good races this time. She is a big overgrown Merrieveeulen who goes to the paddock after Sunday. She has a little bottom to her, but on the tight track I will not be sure if that will stumble.”
Of course to rise, Ginerva won no luck in the race and could not be completely driven out.
“She is a handy small horse. I am exaggerating her in a few of her starts. I thought I would manage her for happiness last time and she went super.
Mind Philly worked hard in the same race and stopped and finished last. She pulls three in the second row on Sunday.
“She is well trained. She is another one who will bank on happiness. Hopefully she can try them.”
Green’s last runner Shaergar got the perfect trip at his last start and after he had hit home early in the run, it was closed down late and ended a good fifth.
“It was an improvement of his start earlier. He can be a bit in and out. Again, he does not have the best of draw. I would have to put Ginerva at the top of the four in that race. She has the better trek and has quite a bit of speed.”
Spiritual (Father Patrick) Trained by Green has a solid formline, but is confronted with heavy opposition in race seven.
“She’s honest and she’s turning out those little songs well, so she has ways by her side.”
Kirstin’s runner in Race Eight Major Burns, (Art Major) was placed wide at his last start. He gets a good draw at two o’clock on Sunday.
“It is a difficult field with Nathan’s (she is crispy) and Craig’s (Saucy pleasure) that look pretty smart, so if we can get a nice run and get a place, I would be more than happy.”
DeWe’s Dravening Mare Lil Whip (Father Patrick) Has shown solid form since May and won three of her six starts. Four of her five wins have been in standing start races. She will race in race nine.

“She was probably a bit disappointing last week according to my standards, but by saying that she had not run for almost a month. She was turned into the winter rewards and she fought against a leg infection. It is a bonus (have) drawn in mixed faith. If she can go away quickly, they don’t have to go around quickly.”
Green’s runner in the ninth is Emily (Imperial Count) Who has in the form of her life that they have won two of her last three starts. She is a only runner of the ten meters.

“She has been a small gem that raced so well all winter and earned her last starting win. She needs a little luck from the second line. Hopefully she can get a good run.”
Share a dream (Art Major) Because DeWe has impressively his last two starts to use his characteristic powerful finish.
He will start as one of the favorites in race ten.

“I think he got better, which is scary to say. He had a nice test on Saturday and really saved the line, so he’s Tickity Boo on his way to Sunday.”
Green rounds her busy day in race eleven, with Bobbies Rock (A Rockknoll -Dance) Who has signed Barrier Six in a small field of eight.
“He did it too well. I thought he was finished the last start, but he was still blew on the back. He is an older horse. We gave him a bit of a rental and he has been piled up. He seems pretty good and you would think he would be better this week. He is pretty good round Gore and he won earlier.”
