Serge Gnabry insisted claims he was in the form of his life were “a bit exaggerated” after scoring in Germany’s 4-0 win over Luxembourg.
Gnabry was involved in an early disallowed goal when his strike struck Nick Woltemade’s arm and got his name on the scoresheet in the second half as Germany moved with ease to the top of World Cup qualifying Group A.
The 30-year-old has now scored twice in three qualifying matches for Germany this season, having also found the net in the win against Northern Ireland.
Gnabry has also been in good form for Bayern Munich this season. He scored three goals and provided six assists in fifteen games (including at the Club World Cup).
He leads the way alongside Michael Olise for the most assists for the Bundesliga giants.
However, Gnabry does not believe he is in the best shape of his career, but is happy with how things are going.
“The form of my life is a bit exaggerated. I’m having a good start to the season,” said Gnabry.
All three points belong to Germany!

“It was good for me to score again today. I have often said that I have not changed anything.”
“It’s self-confidence, especially with the way we’re playing at Bayern at the moment. Sometimes things go well, sometimes they don’t. At the moment I’m doing well.”
Gnabry scored 0.33 expected goals from four shots against Luxembourg and also won all four of his matches.
Julian Nagelsmann was pleased with his winger’s performance ahead of a trip to Northern Ireland, who sit second in the group.
“He delivered a very good performance,” Nagelsmann said after the win.
“It was very important that he also traces transitions and defends, you even need that against Luxembourg. Serge did that very well. He was also very good offensively.”
