Globe Derby Park is gearing up for more features

With the SA Pacing Cup carnival consigned to the history books, the racing action at Globe Derby Park continues to gain momentum with special meetings being held over the next two Saturday evenings.

This Saturday evening’s seven-race card is headlined by the Remembrance Day Pace (1800 metres), which has attracted a full field of 11 runners.

SA Harness Racing Club chairman Richard Miller said: “The SAHRC would like to recognize all those who are currently serving or have served in any of our three defense corps. We encourage everyone to purchase a poppy or commemorative pin.”

The meeting on Saturday evening, November 15, will be one of the biggest and best on the SA racing calendar.

The star-studded program includes the $25,000 Kevin & Kaye Seymour Trotters Cup, a discretionary handicap event at 2645 meters from the standing start.

“This feature is one of six feature races held over the past twelve months that recognize the unique partnership between the Seymour Group and the SA Harness Racing Club,” said Miller.

“The Seymour Group’s property development expertise and Kevin Seymour’s continued desire to see South Australian harness racing thrive have resulted in a plan to make the industry sustainable for years to come and ensure the Club remains the premier harness racing facility in the state.”

Also on the program is the $14,000 Minor Derby Free-for-all (2230 metres), in honor of one of SA’s all-time great pacers, and the time-honored classics the Lordship Stakes (1800 metres) for two-year-old colts and geldings and the Ladyship Stakes (1800 metres) for two-year-old fillies.

The four main events are all limited to locally trained pacers and trotters.
