Palace saw their 12-match unbeaten run at home end on Sunday as Manchester United came from behind to beat the Eagles at Selhurst Park.
The defeat followed a 1-0 defeat in Strasbourg in Europe in midweek and left Glasner wondering whether he has the depth needed to challenge on all fronts.
Speaking at full-time, Glasner expressed concern over Ismaila Sarr’s impending departure for the Africa Cup of Nations and a lack of options in the Eagles’ forward line.
He called on the club’s board to capitalize on last season’s success and qualify for Europe with new signings. The transfer window opens on January 1 for Premier League clubs.
Glasner says Crystal Palace ‘missed the opportunity to play an even better season in the summer’ due to lack of transfers
“When you play European football for the first time in your history, you have to invest and not save,” he said.
“We are doing well, we are still in a good position in the league and in all four competitions. I think January is too late. We will have played more than 50% of our matches. Ismaila [Sarr] we lost him today to an injury and he’s also going to AFCON, so everything we’re dealing with now isn’t surprising.
“Everything was quite clear and I didn’t say anything, but today I think it’s also time to talk about the fact that we missed the opportunity to play an even better season in the summer.”
