A little girl was found dead on a popular beach in Greece by a horrible passer -by.

The child, who was supposed to be about two or three years old, was seen in the early hours of Sunday at Eden Beach in Paleo Faliro, near Athens. Reports say that a man, from Egypt, saw the girl’s body on the coast and called the emergency services.

Authorities hurried to the scene, where they found the child, which has not been identified so far. Her body was transported through ambulance to the Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital, where doctors declared her death. An autopsy will be performed to determine the girl’s cause of death, the authorities have said.

Greek newspaper Protothema reported that the child was wearing a swimming suit with full-zipper and did not wear bracelets when she was found. The publication added that there were no clear signs of abuse on the girl.

There is no child who corresponds to its characteristics missing in the area. Research is underway to determine the identity of the girl and the circumstances of her death.

Last week a British tourist was found tragic dead on his Sun Lounger on a popular Greek beach after he was reportedly become unwell. The 74-year-old was discovered unconsciously at Stalis Beach on the island of Crete by other people in the resort around 12.00 on Sunday 20 July.

Emergency services hurried to the scene and made a desperate bid to breathe new life into the man, but unfortunately their efforts turned out not to be successful. It is understood that he had started swimming for the first time before he returned to the solar sounder and there were his reports that he had a “strong feeling” of disease shortly before his death.

Paramedics of Hellenic National Center of Emergency Care (Ekab) treated the man on the spot and no cause of death has yet been given by the Greek authorities. An autopsy would be implemented, reported cretapost.gr.

It comes after several tragic beach deaths in recent months in which British citizens are involved on holiday. A 73-year-old man was found dead on a beach in Agia Paraskevi, Skiathos, in Greece. And a 68-year-old lost his life after swimming and consciousness lost on June 12.
