The Milwaukee Bewers already collected a victory of (needed!) Series on the road in Pittsburgh this weekend and recovered a little more kisses for their now 6.5-game division lead. A victory this afternoon would be an extra small bonus. Today also contains an intriguing pitching matchup between two of the most exciting, flame-throwing pitching prospects of the game, Jacob Misiorowski on the side of Milwaukee and Bubba Chandler for the Pirates.
Misiorowski still finds his way a bit after his stay on the injured list at the beginning of August. He has sometimes shown the same kind of dominant things that had the baseball world Abuzz earlier this summer, as in his five-aftering, 10-strikeout match against the Diamondbacks on 26 August. But about his four starts since the IL came out of the IL, Misiorowski had a preference to melt as soon as something goes wrong and he is understood by the great inning. Miz has allowed at least three points earned in each of those four starts and has not gone in any of them more than five innings. While the team finds out what exactly has to do with MIZ, a good start would be a long way to clarify that role.
Chandler, who will turn 23 next week, is one of the best prospects at any position in the competition. He entered the 2025 season as the number 7, 15 and 21 general prospect respectively according to Baseball America, MLB Pipeline and Baseball Prospectus. A third round pick in 2021, Chandler shot up the prospectboards after he had threw a 21-year-old in seven Starts to a 1.83 ERA and 12.4 strikeouts per nine innings in Triple-A Indianapolis in seven starts as a 21-year-old in 2024. Just like Misiorowski, Chandler has a fastball that is in the top 90s. Although his Minor League numbers were not as good in 2025 as in 2024 (his walks are more this season), Chandler received the call at the end of August and made three performances from the Bullpen, in which he spent three points on nine hits and one walk in 12 innings with nine strikeouts. Today will be his first Major League start.
Christian Yelich stays out of the line -up of today, which is not exactly shocking after two victories in the series and an early Sunday afternoon outing. According to Adam McCalvy, Yelich wandered a bat yesterday and did not exclude the possibility that he could be used as Pinch-Hitter today.
Sal Frelick and Jackson Chouio also have today’s game, and we will see Jake Bauers – who has had an excellent series – in the right field, next to Isaac Collins in the left and Blake Perkins in the middle. William Contreras will serve as the designated batter of today.
The first pitch today is at 12:35 pm CT, so you have enough time to get it before the packers start at 3:25. Find it on Fanduel Sports Network Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
