PDRM has announced that phased traffic diversion and dispersal measures along several major roads in Kuala Lumpur have begun and will continue until tomorrow as part of the full rehearsal for the 47th ASEAN Summit, taking place from October 26 to 28.
According to Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, the road closures will last 45 minutes and will occur twice on both days (today, October 23 and tomorrow, Friday, October 24), from 8am to 8.45am and from 7pm to 7.45pm. Named reports.
He said the rehearsals are a crucial part of ensuring smooth and orderly movement of official delegations during the actual event. “They are essential for the flawless execution of route management, staff deployment and convoy movements. Therefore, the public is advised to avoid the affected routes during the rehearsal, follow the instructions of traffic personnel and temporary signboards, and also consider using public transport,” he said.
He added that 1,111 traffic police officers and personnel have been deployed for these purposes, and they will be responsible for traffic control, VIP escort duties and enforcement operations during the summit.
As previously reported, the Public Service Agency (JPA) is allowing civil servants to work from home during this period to reduce traffic congestion. About 70 schools will switch to online classes for the same reason, and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) has also allowed higher education institutions in the Klang Valley to conduct online classes during this period.
