Friday blog: Three continents in one week – trying to catch up…

Writer: Helena Bergström

No, this week it wasn’t three continents in the same week. It was probably the week before. But now we are feeling the consequences… A bit of an upset stomach, needing a lot of sleep and a lot of work to catch up on…

Three continents in one week…

One day we were in Uzbekistan (Asia) and then we were home in Sweden (Europe) for three days before flying to Tunisia (Africa). Both trips were fantastic, but perhaps a bit intense…

A lovely week in Tunisia… and a tough journey home

We had a very nice week in Tunisia, and it was nice to revisit places that we really like: the blue-white city of Sidi Bou Said, the lovely island of Djerba (post from the last visit) and the slightly more exotic desert towns of Douz and Tozeur. We have an account of our last visit to Tozeur, but I think it will be a new one, because we experienced many new things that we would like to tell you about.

It’s not that far from North Africa to Scandinavia, but the journey home was still long and quite arduous. Initially we were going to fly from Tozeur to Tunis, but to avoid complications we all switched to a car. That meant we had a seven-hour drive ahead of us.

The flight from Tunis to Frankfurt took off at the unchristian time of 3am, and after two hours we had to change planes at Frankfurt airport. Yes, you understand that you didn’t get much sleep that night… And yes, there are more comfortable ways to travel to and from Tunisia!

At home in Stockholm

Now we are home in Stockholm and that’s it So Nice! We’ve hardly left the house, apart from a few short walks and some action at the supermarkets. There have been a few travel-related events in Stockholm that we missed, but instead FREEDOM travel writer Jonathan Gharbi de Maré was able to attend an event about North Macedonia – a country we’d love to see more of!

This week: Thankful for…

This week we are certainly grateful for the recent exciting travel experiences, but probably even more grateful that we can spend some time at home on the houseboat! It’s nice to have time to process all the impressions, sort the photos and master all the things and tasks.

Your turn…what are you most grateful for this week?

Next week

The coming week starts with a few days at home in the houseboat, but not much… because for us we will soon be heading to Bratislava, Slovakia. This is a country we have never been to before, so it will be really exciting!

Here at FREEDOMtravel you can expect follow-up reports about the train journey in Uzbekistan (the very best!), but also reports about a very current holiday and guest reports about sailing. I hope you’ll join us!
