Fred VanVlete chosen President of NBA Players Union

Houston Rockets Guard Fred Vanvlet was elected president of the National Basketball Players Association during her annual Board of Representatives meeting in Las Vegas, De Unie announced on Saturday.

The 31-year-old undDrafted American, who helped the Toronto Raptors to win the NBA crown in 2019, signed at the Rockets in 2023 and an average of 14.1 points, 5.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 Steals over 60 performances with Houston last season.

“It is really an honor to be chosen by my colleagues as president of the NBPA and I look forward to continuing to argue for the best interest of all members,” Vanvlete said.

“With a deep appreciation for the complexity and challenges that players have at all levels of their NBA trips, I am dedicated to approach this role with passion, dignity and dedication that every player deserves.”

Nine-year NBA veteran Vanvleet drew a two-year deal with a value of $ 50 million in June to stay with the rockets.

Van Vleet’s four -year term when the president started immediately, to replace the CJ McCollum of Washington after his four -year term was completed.

McCollum will continue to work in the Executive Committee in an advisory capacity. He served three years on the board as a vice-president of 2018-2021 and since then as president, which helped the competition in 2020 of the COVID Pandemic and the completion of a new collective employment contract with the NBA in 2023.

“It has been a privilege to serve in the NBPA -executive committee for the past seven years and to give the activities of our game unique,” said McCollum. “I am encouraged by the future of the PA led by Fred, because he has earned the respect for the basketball community and has proven that he is ready for this next step.”

Members of the NBPA -exporting committee are Charlotte’s Grant Williams and Mason Plumlee, Jaylen Brown van Boston, years Jackson van Memphis, Donovan Mitchell van Cleveland, Toronto’s Garrett Temple, Karl Angeles Lakers and Gabe Vincent van de Los.
