Thomas Frank has confirmed that Mohammed Kudus will be out for three months due to the quad injury he suffered during Tottenham’s draw against Sunderland last weekend.

Kudus limped off during the 1-1 draw in north London, with tests having now revealed the extent of the problem.

Frank does not expect the Ghana international to return until April, leaving Spurs without options in the final third. Spurs sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace earlier this month to further reduce their attacking options.

“Mohammed Kudus unfortunately has a bigger tendon in the quad. That is one where we expect him to return after the March international break,” Frank said at his pre-match press conference.

The Dane also provided an update on Dejan Kulusevski, who is yet to appear this season. Frank admitted that the midfielder issue is ‘complicated’.

“The latest news about Dejan Kulusesvki. We know it is a complicated injury. If there is one person who can accelerate that [recovery] it is Dejan, a top professional and with a top mentality. The main thing is to get rid of the pain in the knee.

“He had an injection 10 days ago to fix that. We’ll know in three to four weeks if that’s resolved. And if it’s resolved, hopefully he’ll be on the grass and from there we’ll see what happens.”

There was better news ahead of this week’s FA Cup third round as Dominic Solanke and Destiny Udogie returned to training.

“They’ve both been training. They’re both getting closer. Dest is a little closer than Dom because he’s only been out for five weeks, so that’s a lot less than six months. Both are positive and improving.”
